How to Root Vernee Mars Pro and Install TWRP Recovery

The Vernee Mars Pro is a 2017 flagship from the company, which comes with whopping 6GB of RAM, and based on Helio P25 16nm Octa-core processor from MediaTek. Apart from the all-metal body, it features 1mm extremely narrow frame. The Helio P25 chipset is energy efficient platform, on which a 2.5GHz CPU runs along with Mali T880 GPU, which 40% power consumption. It has a 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, which is rated to provide more backup compared to the LPDDR3. While the 64GB ROM is emmc 5.1, which is latest standard for the high speed, and enables the apps to open super fast. Besides, there is a up to 256GB expandable storage support, apart from the 64GB ROM. The device boasts of a TDDI AMOLED Display, with 95% NTSC gamut, 1500:1 contrast, and Full incell technology. The Vernee Mars Pro 4G Phablet is packed in a slim body, which eliminates the usual bad hand feeling of a large screen device. The device is crafted using the 13 times fine adjustments for internal structure, with reduced thickness of 7.6mm. The back side of the device has 2.5D arc and 160 degree sand-blasting treatment. The device contains the more humane design, which made the possibility to place the fingerprint sensor at the side of the device, compared to the common placement at the front or the rear side. The fingerprint management chip can automatically learn from the data, and does the adjustments automatically whenever it is used, for improved accuracy, and making safer and faster at the same time. The 3500mAh battery can be charged using a 18W quick charger, which is up to 80% faster compared to 5V/2A chargers. The device features a reversible USB Type C, which makes the digital output possible through earphone, while supporting the OTG.

Prerequiste

Ensure to check your model number, which must be:

  • Vernee Mars Pro running

You must have to ensure that prior to rooting your phone , you have read thoroughly the disclaimer and you agree to proceed further on your risk.

  • Phone Should be Charged

Your phone must be 70% charged atleast else, it may lead to complications sometimes while experimenting. Why to take risk, try to charge it fully.

  • Back Up

If you are either going to root your phone or install a Custom ROM, it is a good habit to make a back up of your phone. Make a back up of all your media like images, videos and all on your PC and your contacts on Cloud.

  • Enable USB Debugging

You must enable USB debugging option by going in to Settings, Applications and Developer options.

Steps to Flash/ Install TWRP on Vernee Mars Pro

Step 1: Begin with downloading all the files mentioned above in the prerequisite section.

Step 2: Browse through the files downloaded, and then Right click on the zipped file MT6xxx_USB_VCOM_drivers. zip and extract the same. Then navigate to the extracted folder and then click on the file InstallDriver. exe. This will install the Preloader VCOM in your system.

Step 3: Assuming that you have downloaded SP FlashTool (Win) from the provided link above, Then simply click and extract the archive. Then, browse and run the file flash_tool. exe

Step 4: Find the Scatter File from the downloaded TWRP zip file, which you have downloaded. Rename the TWRP (.img) file to recovery.img. Now, on the flash tool interface, navigate and select the scatter file in the extracted folder of the Stock ROM (Download Stock ROM for your  Vernee Mars Pro smartphone).

Step 5: At this stage, just leave the recovery as ticket/ checked. Now, at the location tab, click on the storage location field of the recovery and search and browse for the custom recovery image file which is device-specific (As shown in the picture above). Then click the Download button.

Step 6: Now, hook up/ connect your Vernee Mars Pro to the computer via USB slot. Connecting your smartphone will begin the flashing process automatically, and it requires simply a few seconds to complete.

Step 7: At this point of the custom recovery on your device has been flashed. Now, you may disconnect the device from computer. Now, you need to turn on/ boot your device into TWRP recovery. For doing the same, boot the device while pressing and holding the volume up button. Kindly note that key combinations may vary on your device model, and you can confirm the right key combination for your Vernee Mars Pro. The Volume Up button also starts the bootloader mode on specific devices, which is equipped with menu to browse to the recovery mode. You may try the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons as key combinations. That’s all, you have successfully flashed the TWRP on your Vernee Mars Pro

Procedure to Root Vernee Mars Pro/ Install Magisk

Make sure that you have downloaded Magisk (link in pre-requisite section of this article). Then, proceed to the steps.

Step 1: Transfer the downloaded Magisk.zip file to the internal storage / SD card of your Vernee Mars Pro smartphone.

Step 2: Now, just boot into the recovery. From the TWRP interface, you can optionally backup the Stock ROM. Though, I would recommend to backup the Stock ROM. Because if in case process gets failed, you can flash the Stock ROM.

Step 3: Tap on Install ‘, and then navigate to the file ‘Magisk.zip’ and swipe to confirm flash (located at the bottom of the screen). The flashing process of Magisk has been started and will take few seconds to complete.

Congratulations, now you have rooted Vernee Mars Pro and also flashed the TWRP. Now, you can install Xposed Framework, and customize your smartphone as per your preference. If you wish to verify, you may download and check the Root Status through Root Checker app.

      1. hi and thanks for the reply.
        this is not the official stock rom. This is a rom that does not have the VOS installed.
        i contacted the guys from needrom and they agreed.
        The latest stock rom is 20170705222633

  1. The recovery installed but upside down and the touch screen doesn’t work (need to access with a password too) any thoughts?

    1. don’t worry about the upside down just plug the phone and open the root file.

      question:
      Can you extract the stock rom from your phone and upload it for the rest of as to upgrade?

      1. How do I install root from plugging the phone in if I can’t use twrp? Can you trigger the install from PC?

          What concerns me is that no one is willing to dump the latest stock rom with VOS

            yes, it’s a very early version. This version is from 14/4/2017 when the phone itself starting shipping late june…. you can imagine..
